Hard to Hold On by Shanora Williams

Excerpt:
It seemed as if everything was spinning around us. The sunset had faded into night but Nolan was still going. The wind grew harsher, almost intimidating. It seemed as if a tornado was coming our way from being so strong. If I weren’t mistaken, chaos was trying to interrupt our perfect moment.
And then he just stopped. He stared down at me, his eyes confused. Hurt. Lost. He didn’t say a word as he pushed himself into a stand. I couldn’t help but stare at him. I watched his every move. The way he buttoned his jeans sullenly. The way he ran his hand through his hair continuously. Nolan looked down at me, his eyes clouded with worry.
“I have to go,” he murmured, eyes glistening. “She needs me. I have to go.”
I couldn’t speak—I wanted to so badly, but I couldn’t. Where did he have to go? Who needed him? It was then that I’d noticed that I wanted to stand but couldn’t. My body was frozen in place and the only thing that seemed to be moving was my eyes. He started to walk away from me, not looking back at all. I could hear myself crying his name but it was like he couldn’t even hear me. It was like I didn’t even exist—like somehow I had become invisible. Nolan’s walk turned into a sprint in the direction of the moon and I continued to watch until he was gone. Until he was completely out of sight and there was no remainder of his presence.
As soon as he was gone, I happened to inhale and scramble to my feet. I was left in the dark, alone. Terrified. Confused. I raced in the direction he had taken off in and searched for him everywhere, but I couldn’t find him, no matter how hard I’d looked.

A Review For Playing Patience By Tabatha Vargo

Synopsis:

Sometimes all you need is Patience.

Life’s been hard for Zeke. Being a punching bag for his alcoholic father has turned him into stone. Not even the dodgy trailer park he lives in can scare him. Fighting is his release and sex, drugs, and his guitar bring him peace, but deep down Zeke isn’t quite as hard as he makes himself out to be. When he meets Patience, she finds all his broken pieces and puts him back together, but she’s a ray of light in his shadowed life and the last thing he wants to do is bring her into his dark world. Playing careless is easy, playing the bad guy can be fun, but playing Patience is impossible, especially when she can see right through him.

Zeke isn’t the only one who’s broken, and for the first time, in a long time, Patience feels alive. Her black and white world gets a shot of color when she meets Zeke. He’s unlike anyone she’s ever met with his tattoos, piercings, and blunt honesty. She wants nothing more than to let go and ride the wild side with him, but some wounds never heal and the broken pieces of Patience aren’t so easy to find.

***Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young adult readers.***

My review:

I let this book marinate within for a couple days. I need to do this sometimes when I feel the need to think about a book. Playing Patience wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but not in a bad way. This story had parts in it mostly everyone can relate to. This is a story about two people who were served pretty shitty hands in life, and they were just trying to make the best and get by.
Patience: A good girl who comes from a family, who on the outside looks like they are perfect. Its like a chocolate covered piece of poo. It looks good on the outside then when you actually get into the middle, where all the nastiness lingers. That's when you get to shit filled middle. Patience is getting by on love alone, love for her sister and mother. She is an athlete and a good student. No one would guess the secrets she holds.
Zeke: Oh Zeke-- He takes bad boys to a new level! This is what a bad boy is too me. He oozes sex appeal and confidence--which he delivers.  He also is from a broken home, with secrets of his own. The boy from the wrong side of the tracks and the girl next door come together to find what they are missing in their lives, and help each other find themselves in the process.
This book touched my heart and really pulled me into the story. I felt what the characters were feeling, and I was crying big, fat, ugly tears. I gave this book the highest rating I could, but if there were more stars I would give it.

Blog tour RAKSHA by Frankie Rose

Blog Tour

RAKSHA
RELEASE DATE: 30.0413

She has no name.
She has her knives, her training, and her halo.
The first and second give her the ability to defeat the opponents she is pitted against each month. The third frees her from pain and fear. From any kind of emotion at all. Everything is as it should be. Everything is as it should be, until…
Fear… Pain… Anger… Happiness… Desire… Guilt…
 Love.
When a newly named Kit escapes the Sanctuary after killing her best friend, the last thing she needs is another knife in her hand. Or Ryka, the damaged, beautiful blond boy, whom she refuses to let save her. The sights and sounds of Freetown are new, yet one thing is familiar: the matches. The only difference? Where the blood in the Sanctuary landed only on the Colosseum floor, Kit will quickly learn that a river of red runs through Freetown’s very streets.
Without her halo, the inhabitants of Kit’s new home consider her saved, but is that really the case? Would she be better off free of the guilt associated with all the blood on her hands, or is the love of one boy worth living through all the pain?

Raksha is the call of the dead. It is the rumbling chant for fresh blood from the other side, the demand for sacrifice. The Colosseum is behind Kit. The fighting pits await.

RAKSHA EXCERPT

I mmm doubtfully, scratching Jada behind her ears. She seems to like that. Cai’s face is gone now, although who knows how long the reprieve will be. When I look up, Ryka is watching me pet Jada.

“She likes you,” he says.

“You sound surprised.”

“I’m not. My sister’s a good judge of character. If Liv likes you that pretty much means everyone else will. Including my fickle dog.” He whistles softly and Jada pricks her ears at the sound.

“And you?” I ask.

He smiles. “Seriously?”

I nod, and Ryka’s mouth pulls up to one side in a way that makes my heart race. He looks wicked.

“Well, we’re friends. In that weird way where you’re eternally mad at me, and I’m eternally imagining what you look like naked.”

“What!” I go to slap his arm but he ducks out of reach, grinning. From the way my insides react to his words, it feels like I’ve swallowed something entirely too hot. Is this normal? Is this what liking someone feels like? It’s confusing and frustrating and frankly—okay, I’ll admit it—kind of wonderful. But what the hell am I supposed to do with that? How do I change who I am, sixteen years of fighting, a life of blood? How do I trade in all that confrontation for something a little sweeter? I think it’s probably too late.

“I really didn’t do myself any favours when I met you, did I? You still don’t trust me?” Ryka tips his head forward, smiling ruefully at his feet when I shake my head. “In that case I suppose it’s pointless asking if you’ve fallen in love with me yet?”

The boy is determined to make me die a death this evening. It’s all I can do not to choke as I shake my head. “Sadly, no. I don’t think I want to kill you anymore, though. So there’s that.”

In the moonlight, Ryka’s eyes bow as he smiles broadly. “There is that. We’ll have to see what we can do to change your mind, though. I’ve never been very good at waiting for anything I want.” He shoves me gently with his shoulder and my heart stumbles.

“You want me?”

Ryka’s smile is devastatingly sharp. “You own me, remember. And now, after the other night…well, I guess I kinda own you, too.”

Meet Ryka.

Hey, my name’s Ryka, but most people call me Ry. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m a member of Freetown. The leader of Freetown, Grandfather Jack, actually IS my grandfather, and people kinda think I’m next in line to run the place when he steps down. I’m not so keen on the idea, though I found Kit half-drowned in a river just outside the Sanctuary boundary fence. She was stubborn then, wouldn’t let me help her, and not much has changed. Well, some things have changed...but we won’t go into that

Review: Coffee and Cockpits by Jade Hart

Coffee and Cockpits

My review:

Alright I finished this yesterday and I needed time to digest what I had finished. I didn't have any idea what was going on in this book, and that says something. I don't really mind when you can tell what is going to happen in the end, though I am floored that I had no idea where this book was leading. All I have to say is WOW, well done, I didn't see that twist in the lo at all, and it left my mouth gasping for air. Like shit, what is going to happen? Well done Jade Hart, I applaud you loudly. As a matter of fact--if this was a play and you were the leading role I would be standing up on my chair, screaming and yelling saying things I am sure would embarrass you lol.

This is a new author for me and she made me a fan with her intense story building and amazing way with words. This story was unique and exactly what I was looking for. One of the best books I have read all year!!! (though I haven't read many, I am trying to catch up) If I knew how to put the gifs up I would. I still have a hard time remembering I finished, I was to pick up my kindle and read it again.

I couldn't find the wrap for the top one, but I liked this one too, so I thought I might as well share the love with both covers.

Go and show her some major love !

Review for Selling Scarlett By Ella James

Selling Scarlett

I had wanted to read this book when I see how beautiful this cover was. I didn't even read the blurb. I seen banners posted that it was going to be on sell for the first couple days--and that sold me. I waited, not so patiently biting my nails in anticipation. I didn't know what to expect I didn't read the blurb until I actually bought the book. I dove into waters that were not clear and uncharted, and I am sure once you start to read this book it will become clear that it is a fantastic new concept for a book. Maybe there is more out there like it but I haven't ever read something like this before. Selling Scarlett was amazing and engaging. It made me cry, it made me laugh, and at times I was sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. It had a bitch for a villain, and a heroine that will have you rooting for her the whole time. Let me not forget about Hunter, good God, hunter!!!! Swooning isn't even the word I would use to describe what this character did to my insides. He was, so, so sexy. Having issues from his past Hunter needed to work things out in his life, it made you want to help him.

A story like this doesn't come alone often and when it does you just need to sink your teeth into it and hold on for the ride of you life. Ella James spun a mesmerizing tale, one that people will be talking about for years to come. I enjoyed this book immensely, and it will be one I will re-read over and over again.

I gave this book five out of five stars!!!!! recommended for an mature audience, for there are some scandalously sexy scenes *wiggles eyebrows*

Love was found. Their only hope is that it never gets lost.

Excerpt:

Nolan’s hands work their way down to my jeans and he unbuttons them. My back arches, allowing him to continue. He slides my jeans off before crushing my lips with his. I shut my eyes, ready to enjoy the feeling. I’ve wanted this for so long.
His finger sneaks beneath my panties and slowly slides into me. I moan and he groans as he rubs the flesh between. I pull his head down to kiss him again—to keep the intimacy going. His tongue plays and coaxes mine. I hear his belt buckle jingle and he adjusts himself to get his pants down but our lips never part. He presses himself against me and my stomach tightens. I grip his T-shirt but he pulls back to tug it over his head.
He glares down at me, as if I’m the only person on this entire planet that he wants. He’s all that I want. I know that he feels the same way. Leaning down, Nolan’s lips press against my neck and then kiss their way down to my breasts. He tugs my shirt over my head, pulls my bra down, and then licks my nipples. Heat sparks and I feel myself building up. My eyes squeeze shut from the erotic feeling. His mouth is like magic as it licks and sucks. He begins to move southward, and my legs tighten around him but he presses his palms against the inside of my thighs to keep me still and available to him.
I look down and watch as he bites on his bottom lip while pulling my panties down. Quickly, his hot tongue slides between my slick folds and I gasp through my teeth as he swirls it around my sweet area. I can really feel myself building up now. I want nothing but him inside of me—nothing but his hard body against mine. I want to mold and fill the room up with our steam and sweat.
My moans and pants pick up and then, abruptly and rather annoyingly, he pulls back. “Not yet,” he says against my lips.
